All Classes will begin Promptly at 6:00 PM and will last until 7:30 PM

All “hands on” will be conducted in full bunker gear. Bunker gear is to be brought to EVERY class.

Roll will be taken and reported back to awards group. There will be tests scheduled at various points in the class structure.  These tests will be used to evaluate firefighters progress and skill level.

As I am sure everyone remembers, we established a rank system last year.  We will now implement that system.  The scores on tests as well as class participation will be used in determining the individuals skill level. The Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, and the Training Officer will make up a testing and evaluation system to be applied prior to advancing to the next appropriate level.

Please understand that this rank structure is not meant to downplay any ones involvement on a fire scene.  It is intended to bring organization to situations already in havoc.  Fire scenes are always extremely confused and dangerous.  The danger is not only to our selves, but to occupants and bystanders as well.  Safety will always be of utmost concern, and the more organized we are, the safer we will ultimately be.

I am also aware that trying to get everyone together on a regular basis like we have can be difficult.  The dates provided are subject to change if a majority of the firefighters can not make that date. If a class is changed, it will be made up.

The mission of Dauphin Island Fire and Rescue is to identify and respond to the community and deliver an effective and efficient system of services which minimize risk of life, health, and property from fire, trauma, acute illness and hazardous conditions.
